GM Journal - GURPS: Infinite Worlds (Session 151)

The GURPS game is now three years old! (approximately) It started in June of 2005.

After a bunch of adventures which, if they are recorded at all, are chronicled elsewhere, the party was poised to reunite with Iotha. Kale (Coureton), Vlad (Jason), and Liserix (Tex, not present), along with their new friend Jarla (a Norn, played by Lisa), and an unusual little Russian girl known only as Zeka (Daniel), had just helped a squad of lost Interstellar Union spacefarers partially refuel their ship from the fusion pile of a disabled Bolo Mk. XXVII. Their conveyor, having been almost completely drained of energy, was refueling from the same source.

GM Journal - GURPS: Infinite Worlds (Session 130)

Gathering intelligence on the Centrum operation on Terrath quickly turned into the beginnings of the full-blown raid when the information gatherers found themselves in more of a pickle than they had bargained for. While the party continued to train and work on computer systems, Mark tried to worm his way into Centrum by way of an arms deal. When the deal was fast-tracked and Mark himself was kidnapped along with the cargo, the rest of the party came to his aid, having held off in hopes that the situation wouldn’t get too bad. Along the way, Mark freed and befriended a Time Lord named Jereth.

GM Journal - GURPS: Infinite Worlds (Session 129)

The party spent some downtime in the Greenhouse this session. Zack/Lilleithyn worked on AI and robotics projects, aided by Eric/Thane and Neut. Vlad returned, and he and Chloë communed with their patrons, Thanatos and Atropos, respectively. A newcomer, known as Mark, was welcomed to the Greenhouse. The party enlisted his aid in plotting a daring raid on Centrum’s occupation of Terrath.

GM Journal - GURPS: Infinite Worlds (Session 128)

This week the party fled the collapsing volcano, but then went back to the worldline when they realized that Cthulhu was wreaking havoc there. They fought Cthulhu in a furious and drawn-out fight. Kale nearly died, and Valius stayed behind to mop up the rest of the evil creatures released from the subterranean menagerie.

GM Journal - GURPS: Infinite Worlds (Session 127)

The party entered the magma caverns under Popocatépetl and discovered an underground complex. First there were several nefarious traps involving swinging blades and napalm. Then there was a barrage of tranquilizer darts. Then, an officious red-clad guard. Finally, the interior revealed a high-tech workshop/hangar/laboratory and a long chamber of collected artifacts. This latter was guarded by a nasty robot. They fought the robot, siezed Excalibur, and fled as the volcano began to tumble all around them.

GM Journal - GURPS: Infinite Worlds (Session 126)

The party jumped to a new worldline, where they were reunited with Algernon P. Worthington IV. They encountered a Swedish-speaking nation in place of the US, left it behind, and found a highly fortified English-speaking country in place of central Mexico. Their search for the true Excalibur (and Dr. Hawkins) led them to Popocotapetl, in the midst of a conflict-torn land. All signs point to their goal lying deep beneath the dormant volcano.

GM Journal - GURPS: Infinite Worlds (Session 125)

On the Aliens worldline, the party ousted some corrupt officials and uncovered plans to perform fatal experiments on the survivors from LV-426. They triggered an insurrection aboard the space vessel Zephyr and extended an offer of aid in the future, to rescue the relocated colonists. Subsequently, they got some R & R in the greenhouse, and lined up their next couple of quests.

Dream House

I had a dream this morning. There were lots of people staying overnight in a fairly large house.. I think it belonged to my mother. There was a pale tile floor (off-white tiles with yellow/cream colored grout) in the foyer, with carpeted stairs that led straight up opposite the front door. People were on the floor with sleeping bags in the living-room (to the right) and kitchen (to the left), and even in the foyer. I led a few of my friends out to "the cabin", which was fifty to a hundred feet away from the front door, and canted to the right a bit.

Although the weather was cold, maybe even snowy, the cabin would be nice and warm because of a woodstove in the corner room nearest to the house. I gathered the people around me, of whom there were maybe four or five, and headed to the cabin. Tegan was there, and was excited about us being able to cook breakfast in cast-iron cookware on the woodstove. Alyssa from NH was there, but out-of-proportion, because in the dream she was shorter than me. She was upset that she had been "a bitch" to her younger sister about something. I gave her a hug to comfort her, first calling her name so I didn't freak her out by giving her a surprise hug from behind.

The cabin itself had lowish ceilings, and the walls and floor were made of dark wood. There was a table, and some shaker-style chairs, also of dark wood. One of those oval spiral rag-tied rugs lay on the floor near the table. The rest of the cabin was fuzzy and indistinct, but I got the impression that there was more furniture of the functional, but old and perhaps no longer very pretty, variety. In whole, it gave me a strong sense of comfort as a great place for five or six young people to spend a fun winter weekend/holiday.

Today, awake, I find myself wishing very strongly I could go back into the dream and live there for a while. Tears come to my eyes, and the rational part of my brain tells me I need to identify and analyze the parts of my life that are bothering me to the point that I feel like I want to run away from them into a dream/fantasy.

As of yesterday, I'm Kiernan's new office lady. (And Greg's and Chris's and Jon's, etc. etc.) My first day went pretty decently. It feels good to be in a nice regular stable five-day-a-week job now.

Good Jorb

So, I had a job interview today. It seemed to go reasonably well. Oddly (or at least it seems odd to me), I don't feel nervous about it at all. I think I've sort of adopted a view that whatever happens is fine. The interviewers have sufficient information, and if they think I'll do better at the job, they'll hire me, or otherwise they'll hire the other person. I really hope it's me, though. :-)

GM Journal - GURPS: Infinite Worlds (Session 37)

Last session, the party had just arrived in the private gardens of King Arthur's castle at Camelot. Sir Tristan had spoken briefly with King Arthur to explain their sudden appearance there. King Arthur collected all the Glory Swords that the party had salvaged or confiscated from the Rosicrucians, then invited the party back to the main castle for the night.

GM Journal - GURPS: Infinite Worlds (Session 36)

I cannot remember this session clearly. I think it mainly consisted of the party moving on along the road.

Eventually, The Youth decided to speed their journey by opening a portal directly to the castle at Camelot. With Sir Tristan's help, and a memorized map of the area, The Youth was able to get a pretty decent fix on the destination. The party arrived in a well-manicured garden or golf course or something. Several men were riding towards them on horseback.

GM Journal - GURPS: Infinite Worlds (Session 35)

This week's session felt like it was kind of all over the place, and a bit jerky--characterized by fits and starts of motion. The action and dialog felt good, though, and it seemed like everyone there had a good time. (Tex had a headache and had to leave, which was unfortunate.)
